With a book by Itamar Moses and a score by David Yazbek, The Band’s Visit is based on Eran Kolirin’s 2007 film about an Egyptian Police Band that arrives in Israel to play a concert. After a mix-up at the border, they are sent to a remote village in the middle of the desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways. The Band’s Visit celebrates the deeply human ways music, longing and laughter can connect us all.

The New York Times Critics’ Pick
“ONE OF THE MOST RAVISHING MUSICALS YOU WILL EVER BE SEDUCED BY OPENED ON THURSDAY NIGHT AT THE BARRYMORE THEATER. IT IS CALLED ‘THE BAND’S VISIT.’ Directed by DAVID CROMER with an inspired inventiveness that never calls attention to itself, ‘The Band’s Visit’ flows with the grave and joyful insistence of life itself. All it asks is that you be quiet enough to hear the music in the murmurs, whispers and silences of human existence at its most mundane – and transcendent.” – Ben Brantley, The New York Times
“KATRINA LENK, who mixes languidly feline sensuality with knowing self-deprecation, IS MESMERIZING” -Adam Fedlman, TimeOut New York
“Directed here with A MAESTRO’S VIRTUOSIC VISION BY DAVID CROMER, ‘THE BAND’S VISIT’ IS GENTLE, SOULFUL, TUNEFUL – and THE BEST NEW MUSICAL ON BROADWAY. BEAUTIFUL MUSIC, BEAUTIFUL STORY, BEAUTIFUL ACTING.” – Peter Marks, Washington Post
