The three story, 26,000 square foot space provides an immersive, interactive, inspiring, fun, and educational experience for people of all ages!
Broadway is integral to American culture and The Museum of Broadway is now the only permanent museum dedicated to the most iconic stages in the world. Teams of internationally renowned artists, designers, and theatre historians have created an interactive experience that highlights groundbreaking moments in Broadway’s history – the moments that pushed creative boundaries, challenged social norms, and paved the way for those who would follow.
Travel through the timeline of Broadway from its birth to present day, where they highlight theater’s pioneers, socially progressive moments and some of the most beloved plays and musicals of all time. Go inside some of the most momentous musicals to change the landscape and trajectory of Broadway through installations designed by leading contemporary visual artists and Broadway designers.
Go behind the curtain into the making of a Broadway show with a special exhibit honoring the community of brilliantly talented professionals – both onstage and off – who bring Broadway plays and musicals to life every night.
The museum, which is interactive for guests, highlights more than 500 individual productions from the 1700s-present, including The Ziegfeld Follies, Oklahoma!, The Wiz, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Company, Hair, Rent, and so much more!
Other Museum of Broadway highlights include:
- A visual history of Broadway from its birth to the present-day highlighting theater’s pioneers, landmark moments of social change, and well-loved plays and musicals.
- Immersive installations designed by visual artists and acclaimed Broadway designers, highlighting pivotal shows that transformed the landscape of Broadway.
- An exhibit curated by David Leopold titled, The American theatre as seen by Hirschfeld, which will immerse visitors through nine decades of Hirschfeld’s iconic images of theater through 25 drawings and prints dating from 1928 to 2002.
- A retail store, created in partnership with Creative Goods, which will sell everything a Broadway fan could want, from show-specific merchandise to bespoke products from small local businesses
